Big Schloss trail is a very cool trail. Parking is fairly easy at the recreation area. The trail has you walking on the Virginia/West Virginia border. The first leg of the trail is extremely strenuous because it’s quite steep and rocky. It goes that way for approximately a quarter of a mile. Once you reach the top you will be cruising all along on top of the mountain until you reach the summit where you will enjoy very spectacular views of Virginia. From there it is a long walk to Big Schloss bit not as strenuous as the first leg. The biggest reward is when you get to BS. The views of WV and VA are quite spectacular. My black lab did all the trail with me and it took us about one hour up and one back. This is a must do in the fall.
